The first full week of January 2021 is going to be busy for those interested in mule sales with four major mule sales set during a three day span.
First question entering one's head is WHY? Why put all these sales back to back? Well, there isn't really a right or wrong answer; but the most popular thought is this schedule accommodates out of state travelers. It also allows those paying truck and trailers to haul their stock the opportunity to purchase a full load. As far as good for two legged critters attending these sales ..... come Friday night you are going to be tired .... very, very tired.
Need a little help with schedules:
Wed Jan 6th Carter / Higgins Mule sale at Russellville
Thurs Jan 7th Adin Hoover Sale at Hopkinsville KY
Thurs Jan 7th Bluegrass Sale at Elkton KY
Fri Jan 8th Reese Bros Sale at Westmoreland TN
Few tips to remember: • Bidding may differ at sale locations. Make sure, prior to bidding, you know if you are bidding on the pair or 'one 2x the money'. This confuses some bidders as from sale to sale if may change. • Sale managers usually accept stock the day before the sale for consignment. Take advantage of this to check out sale stock up close. • Write tag numbers down and ask for a sale sheet / schedule the morning of the sale. All Kentucky sales have these, allowing bidders to know when their interest will enter the ring. This is going to be a real asset due to COVID this sale season. • Arrive early to obtain a bid number; this keeps your personal information from being announced during a sale. Hold up your number and your done.
